Ultrasound
Echoscopy is an examination that aims to see the internal structures and organs of the body, presented by ultrasound waves. Reflected and scattered ultrasound waves can represent what a medical professional can see on a screen and record. This test is harmless and has no side effects. Echoscopy is a short but very effective procedure that can observe small, pre-symptomatic anatomical changes in the internal organs and blood flow in the blood vessels. It depends on what organ is being examined the procedure could be done internally or externally.
During the echoscopy, the radiologist uses a sensor with a device and a screen that reflects the image. Typically, in this study, the patient is asked to lie on their back. However, depending on the importance of the organ being examined, the patient may need to stand up, lean to the side, or lie down on the abdomen. To get an effective result from this examination there is a water-based gel applied to the skin. The radiologist presses and slides the sensor over the area that’s under examination. When an inconsistency is found a biopsy is performed. Echoscopy is a comprehensive, effective prosedure that helps to identify irregularities in the body. Ultrasound of the abdominal organs is recommended for the patient when they feel pain or have discomfort for a period of time . A Cervical artery ultrasound is recommended by specialists for elderly patients with diabetes or high cholesterol. A thyroid examination is necessary when the patient has bumps, pain or discomfort in the neck area. An ultrasound on the breast is done to diagnose for cancer or any other irregularities. Ultrasound is a very accurate way to quickly determine the cause of joint and soft tissue pain. It is recommended that a full ultrasound examination be performed at least once a year in patients over 40 years of age.
